Mending Broken Bridges is a book that at its very core is written with the hurting person in mind. Life can be painful at times and we have all experienced it. For some, there may have been more painful experiences than others and they may go as far back as childhood. Many times these painful experiences were traumatizing enough that they are still playing a major part in their day to day lives.

The content within these pages in many ways reflect my own personal life and my own personal journey of healing and freedom. We all have things in our life that we need to work on or to be free from. This can sometimes take time and work on our part to find that freedom. We need to remember we got where we are over time and it will take time to move beyond it. It is an emotional one as well as a spiritual journey.

This is not something I could do by myself. I needed good counsel and God’s help if I was to be totally free. I don’t know where you are in your spiritual life, but I can tell you this journey of healing cannot be achieved by you alone, you will need the help of God to get you on the right path. You will not only hear within these pages a person’s personal journey but you will also hear how my personal relationship with Jesus got me through that journey.

People in our life may not have always done the right thing at times and hurt us in the process, but we also make bad choices and hurt others as well. When bad choices are made, those choices affect not only you, but others around you. Self -centeredness is at the very core of these choices how?—people want what they want even if it may affect someone else. So, we need to look at these painful experiences, but we also need to look at the issues of the heart and take responsibility for the bad choices we have also made.

I have discovered that the process of healing occurs in three parts:

  1. Facing reality that bad things happen that are beyond our control and be willing to work through the pain of those experiences.
  2. Take responsibility for the choices we make and deal with any unresolved issues before God and man.
  3. Begin the process of letting go of our pain and forgive those who have wronged us.

I hope and pray that this book will help you reach your personal goals for your life. Total victory and healing will happen as we surrender our will and ways to the Lord Jesus. When you put your life in the hand of the One who is able to save and deliver, you will find you are not alone. It is always our choice to either move forward or we can stay where we are, but healing will happen when you decide to move beyond where you are. Never give up! You do not want to miss the good things God has in store for you.

You can read this book and apply the things that speak to you personally for your own life, or it could be used as a group study with those who may desire to go through it together. It has some personal reflections at the end of each chapter that can also be used for your personal use or in a group setting to stimulate discussion.

May your life be changed forever as you read this book. May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen Hebrews 13:20-21
