I have been working on a new study called "Forgetting what is behind". it is a study taken out of the book of Philippians. I love Philippians and how the Apostle Paul says things, I don't know about you but I relate to him in my own life. we all can relate to some specific person in the Bible and he is mine.
As I have been studing, it is striking to me how Paul says in verse 13 of chapter 3. it says, Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. but on thing I do, forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize to which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Now, I don't know about you but it is not easy to forget what is behind right? but this is not what he is saying here. He is not referring to 'ever remembering again', but rather, making a personal choice to not let my past have the final say in my life. I can do that! You can do that!
Also in that verse Paul refers to 'straining toward'. In other words, put some backbone into it! Do it like we mean it, if not we will not go very far. Today is the only day we need to be concerned about, not yesterday and not tomorrow. Be determined to press ahead regardless of our circumstances and when we do we will find that we will have strength and grace to move forward. don't give up! tomorrow is a new day. new days comes with new strength, insight and peace. leave tomorrow to itself and focus on what is in your hand today.
Keep pressing on
