A season for giving thanks
I called my sister and brother this morning and wished them a happy thanksgiving as I know many of us were doing. After all, isn’t that what we are supposed to do on thanksgiving?
But, I was reminded that being thankful and giving thanks is not just for a day but for every day, And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
As I was talking with my sister on thanksgiving morning and I heard her speak these words….”I just wish we lived closer together” my heart was reminded of the love we shared together for one another. I also think about “the love of God” and how much He loves me and you, and wonder if He longs for us in the same way waiting for us to say to him…”I wish you would draw closer I long for you.”
I believe this to be true, that as we long for our loved ones, whether that be our spouses, siblings, children, parents or friends that Our Lord Jesus longs for us as well and cannot wait until that day when we will come home and live with Him forever and ever.
So, even in the difficult times let our hearts be thankful for what we have been given, for if we would just look around, we would see that we have much to be thankful for now and in the future. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my father’s house are many rooms, if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. John 14:1-4
