                There is a quote that says, “What you see depends on what you’re looking for”

 People often find themselves doing the same things over and over again and wonder “why”? We may recognize at times that something is not right and it may appear that things are coming around full circle at times with thoughts of; “haven’t I been here before”? But we can’t seem to get a handle on why we are repeating certain thoughts and behavioral patterns and how do we stop the cycle of doing what we have done previously.

Paul wrote; I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Romans 7:15

Why do we believe what we believe? Why do we hold on tightly to what we believe to be true?  Things happen to us because of what our core beliefs are! As long as we hold on to a particular belief, unless we choose to change it we will continue to believe the same way until our heart and mind are changed in regard to that belief.

 Example being, you have just come out of a past relationship that ended badly and had another previously bad relationship just before that. What happened that led you down the same path as before?

 If we find ourselves repeating a pattern over and over again, we need to ask ourselves “is there a particular belief driving this unhealthy pattern”?

 What are unhealthy life Patterns?

Unhealthy life patterns are specific habits, beliefs, ways of thinking and doing things that repeat themselves throughout our life on a day to day basis. Unhealthy cycles can affect us in every area of life; emotionally, relationally and spiritually preventing us from changing in a positive way. 

 Unhealthy habits and behaviors of life can be linked back as far as our childhood. Underneath these habits and behavior patterns lie the real reasons that drive them such as; our real motives, unmet needs, acceptance, beliefs,value and worth. Old habits and ways of thinking create unhealthy life patterns that will eventually lead us down paths of frustration, hopelessness and despair. If we are stuck in some kind of a unhealthy pattern that is affecting our life today and it is  causing us to do things we don't want to do we need to get to the root of that pattern.

We don't have to live going from one disaster to another in relationships, there is a better way! The love of God can and will meet every need we have. He will never leave us or forsake us even when everyone else does. We can trust Him with our emotions and problems. He is there when we ask!! Ask and you will receive. 1 John 3:22
