Dee's Thought's for the day

Where Do You Live?

Let us look this morning at a passage in Judges 6 starting with verse 7-10. When the Israelites cried to the Lord because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Eqypt, out of the land of slavery. I snatched you from the power of Egypt and from the land of all your oppressors. I drove them from before you and gave you their land. I said to you, I am the Lord your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live. But you have not listened to me.

How does this passage apply to us? First of all, we all have a (Egypt) in our lives. A place where we have come from, a place where for many could have been a place of emotional and or physical slavery.  He brings us out, literally snatches us out from the power of that land and all of its oppressors and puts us in a new land.

But what does the Lord tell us? He said, “do not worship the gods of this new land, the land in which you now live”. In other words, do not fall into their ways and do not do what they do or believe in their gods, for I have taken you to a new place. Follow me and the freedom I have given you, do not go back to your old ways of thinking and doing as you have in the past.

Has the Lord brought you out of a land of slavery and you have tasted the sweet fruit of a new land but you now find yourself  asking God “why are these things happening to me”,  and questioning “did not the Lord bring me out of the land of Egypt” verse 13?

Sometimes we lose out way but the path is still in front of us. God is still leading and He does not abandoned us when we are lost. Keep asking, looking and believing, God is still with you, keep walking in the strength you have (verse 14).

Be encouraged and of good cheer God is with you.
