Morning Everyone, Please send these blogs on to your friends. This morning we are discussing how we view our part in our walk with God. How do we view our responsibility in our walk with God. What should we do and what we should let God do. It is easy for us to fall into the trap of either trying to do to much or nothing at all. Lets see what God says:
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:9
While salvation is grace alone by faith, the Bible is very clear that after we are saved there is work for us to do through the power of God. Many of us think that when we surrender our lives over to Jesus that our part is now over and it is all up to Him.
NOT EVEN CLOSE! This is just the beginning, we have entered into a partnership with God (a marriage if you will) that will grow and deepen as we learn to hear His voice and walk with Him.
We don’t do works to produce salvation, but real salvation will produce works. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17
What is a Spiritual workout? It is persevering, being immovable and diligently studying God’s Word and doing what He tells us to do. It is not working hard for God in hopes of being loved and accepted by Him. He loves us in spite of ourselves we can never work hard enough to be loved by God. He already loves us. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6
Works alone without faith is not God’s way but we are asked to seek, knock, work, perfect, hunger, add to, give diligence, labor, follow after, lay hold, fight, and contend. Here are a few of the many Bible commands showing there is something for us to do.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7
Matthew 5:6.. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
So let us stay planted firm and keep moving upward and forward. Galatians 6:9 says it all: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
