Giving is better than receiving

A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great. Proverbs 18:16

Good morning everyone and welcome to “Dee’s Thoughts”.

Thank you for joining me and thank you for your comments I so appreciate them. We have all experienced at one time or another the benefits of giving and receiving.

When we give it makes us feel so good inside that we have done something for someone else and when we receive we are left with a sense of humility and gratitude for what we have received. Today we will look at the benefits of giving. Let’s get started:

From a Biblical perspective giving is a way “to love others more than ourselves”. It gets us out of a “self” way of thinking. Philippians 2:3-4. There is no better cure for us feeling sorry for ourselves than to give to someone else who is in need.

Giving also helps us to understand more fully the character of God. Philippians 2:8. Giving is sacrificial and reminds us that the life we live is not ours alone but rather a gift from the one (Jesus) who gave His all for us.

When we struggle with worry, how are we going live, pay bills, etc, giving breaks down within us the struggle of worry. When we give out of the little we have we release spiritual blessings back to us. God always gives back more than we give, we cannot out give God.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38

Today’s thought is for all of us, let us all take these words seriously and ask God for forgiveness of thinking only of ourselves at times and trust in Him for all our needs. Thank you Lord for all you provide!

 Have a great day

Blessings Dee
