1 Corinthians 9:24
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize”? Run in such a way that you may win.
Good morning everyone, thank you for joining me this morning. I love your input about these blogs (“Dee’s Thoughts). Keep them coming and please send them on. Today our topic is about how we run a race and how do we run our personal race with a goal in mind. Let’s get started:
We know that many runners enter a race, but only one of them wins the prize. So run to win! Athletes work hard to win a crown that does not last, but rather, we do it for a crown that will last forever. So, Let us run with a goal and purpose in mind.
Especially in our world today many of us feel as though we are caught up in “A Rat Race”. We get up and go to work, take care of other responsibilities and so forth. The world and our surroundings seem to spin out of control more and more each day. Schedules get tighter and tighter squeezing out precious time needed for ourselves and family.
What motivates us? Is it money, power or something else? We are all running a race, some of us are more aware of it than others, but non-the-less, a race we are in. For some, they may be running away instead of running to, going in the wrong direction looking for the wrong things or running just for the sake of running, not knowing where they are going. For others they may be running toward riches, fame or recognition.
All of these things have one thing in common though: they run toward a corruptible crown. To questions…"What race are you running? Second, will your race give you eternal happiness, or will it only lead you to a corruptible crown?”
1 Corinthians 9:25-27 gives us the answer, it says, “Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.’’
So let us run our race with a purpose and goal in mind. To obtain the prize that awaits us in heaven Jesus.
