Good Morning Everyone, Thank - you for joining me today (a snowy one), Just a quick reminder about our new curriculum called "AWAKEN". It's on our website. Check it out and come visit us. We have great discussions in a group setting as we learn and study together. Every week is different!. I love your comments keep them coming.
Wouldn’t you agree that from time to time we all find ourselves seeking? We may not always know what we are seeking but seeking non-the-less.
The question for us to ponder this morning is this, what is it that we are seeking and who are we seeking it from? There is a passage in John 1:35-40 that is about two disciples who see Jesus passing by and they recognize him. They follow him until finally Jesus says, “what do you want” (or seek)? They replied “where are you staying’? “Come he replied, and you will see.”
You see, they were not satisfied to just met him, they wanted to get to know him and spend time with him! Can’t you just imagine the pleasure and the smile on the Lord’s face as He says ‘come, and you will see.’ No one is turned away or disappointed when they come to Him with a true heart, desiring to know Him better.
Where do we go and who do we go to when we have a need/problem? Well, for most of us, the first thing we usually do is…We try and figure it out within ourselves before looking to anyone else.
Second, when that fails, we look to a professional person who we believe will have the no-how/experience to fix the problem.
Third, If that fails, now we are really in a pickle and seemingly at the end of our rope, so what to do now? We have done all we have known to do within ourselves and looked to others for help as well with no success or answers to our problem. It’s usually at that point, when we have exhausted all of our options that now we find ourselves turning to God for help.
Psalm 9:9-10 tells us this, The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
He, The Lord, is our refuge, our stronghold and He never fails us when we turn to him. We can trust him with our lives, our families, and our problems, it is his promise. His Word in Psalms gives this promise to those who know your name and put their trust in you.
To those who seek you and turn to you for help will not be forsaken. What a promise! So, let’s lift up our concerns and praises to Him who take’s care of all our needs and quit looking to ourselves or to others to be our life- saver. But, rather, let us turn to our only Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Have a Great Day
