Good morning everyone, thank you for joining me today "Dee's Thoughts". I hope and pray all is well in your life and thank you for your responses and input. We live in a time in our world where we need 'courage' more than ever don't we? On the surface things seems to be getting worse not better and we wonder what is going to happen next. It is true that if we focus on what we see and hear in our world today it can look pretty blink. But we have a hope in Jesus that we will have want we need when we need it. this is our topic for today. (Sufficient Courage)
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficientcourageso that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:20-21
I would all like to think that when the time comes, regardless of what we are having to face, that we will be able to face it with courage. Courage is not something we need to draw upon every day in every situation of life, but when we need it we hope it is there.
Paul recognizedthis when he said,“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, butwill have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body. Paul was referring to whether he lived or died. What is sufficient courage? Sufficientmeans we will lacknothinghaving enoughto finish the task. What is Courage? Courage is the quality of mindwhich enables us to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness.
So, let’s put these two together. What is sufficient courage? Sufficient courage is a steadfastness and firmness thatrises up within us when facing difficulttime’ssupplying us with more than enough to finish the task laid out before us.
There are times when all of us encounter difficultlife situations and we need an inner courage and strength to get through them. In these times, we need to press through them, not go around them, or try an ignore them, but focus on Jesus and He will give us the courage to get through them. Courage is given when we decide to ‘not give up’,(spiritually), but courage fades when we grow faint hearted or run away.
Whatever hardship or loss you are going through remember you do not have to face it alone and you have more than enough courage within you to overcome it with Jesus. You can eagerly expect help to come, you will not be disappointed or ashamed.
Courage is not present in our lives all the time, but is given to us by God when we need it. It is not something we can drum up in our own strength, it comes from a deep place within us at just the right time. I used to work in surgery and in those times when I was faced with tramatic situations that were life and death related, I did not know if i could get through them and wondered how i would get through. Amazingly I was given the courage and ability to get through those times and it was never in my own strength. I knew it was a gift of God, that there was no way in myself i could have gotten through on my own.
Let us be encouraged today that we are not alone and God will provide for us what we need when we need it. Rest in Him all is well.
