the pollution of noise

Morning Everyone, welcome to ‘Dee’s thoughts.’ Stop for just a moment and just listen. What do you hear? Maybe the neighbor’s lawn mower…a barking dog…a ticking clock…or just the cars on the street.

With all the things going on around us in our busy lives it has become more difficult to just quiet ourselves and listen. Listen to what? I recently took a day trip and visited a friend. When I drive alone I find it easier to hear the voice of God and listen to my own heart. Such was the case in my latest road trip. As I began to talk to God, the quiet around me allowed me to hear His voice.

My journey was not ultimately about visiting a friend It was clearly about hearing from God. I am reminded of the words Jesus spoke as he was talking to his disciples in John 16. “I’ve told you all this so that you may have peace”. ‘Peace’? Can we have peace and still feel like a war is all around us? In John 15 Jesus turns to John and his disciples and says “you will be persecuted and no longer welcome in places you used to go. Devastating words! Clearly the peace Jesus spoke of is not what we think of at all.

We all encounter trials and hardships and wonder where is this peace that Jesus spoke of? Well, It is found In the quietness of our hearts. Peace is freedom from the war raging around us. Don’t worry I am with you. I will never leave you. I am your peace! No matter what is going on in your life, Know that our loving Lord is with you and with me even when the storm is raging.

Blessings and Peace
