The weight of our 'words'

Morning Everyone

Thank you for joining me this morning and welcome to "Dee's Thoughts". I hope you enjoy these blogs as much as I enjoy doing them. please pass them on to your friends. For your information, I have just completed and published a new thirty day devotional called "Let The Heart Rejoice".

It is currently at Parables book store, stop by and take a look. you will find it in the local authors section. Also, there are others materials on our website as well at I am including the link for you to go directly to the publishing site (blurb) if you want to order the devotional for a Christmas gift. it is:

Most of us are too casual, or ignorant, about the importance of what we say, or don't say. It was Jesus Himself who warned, "For every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment." He continued, "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:36-37 NKJV).

There is a weigh that comes with our words whether we recognize it or not. Our words have a spiritual impact (power) to impact those who receive them. Jesus said His words were "spirit and [they] are life" (John 6:63). The substance in Christ's words is eternal life, and believing His words transforms us.

If I wrote with words that contained profanities, blasphemies and curses, would not the uglyness of such words, at least temporarily, have an affect on your soul? Our words, can actually become weapons the enemy uses to destroy us and wound others, as Job challenged his so-called friends: "To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit was expressed through you?" (Job 26:4).

When we slander or gossip, we must ask ourselves: Whose spirit is being expressed through us? You see, satan seeks to use our words against us and others. With our words, we can easily criticize and judge if we are not careful. These things immediately affect our future. Satan knows the power of the tongue.

God's Word says; "The tongue...sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by Hell" Jamees 3:2-6).

The devil can take our careless, insensitive words and literally crush others. Our words can become an unbearable burden on a person's soul, especially a harsh word spoken in anger. It can actually destroy another persons life.

Are we getting a feel of how impacting our words can be? We are living in times where our values and morals are being attacked and degraded every day to the point to where everything and anything is permissable. We have a choice to either be light or darkness to another. Our enemy (Satan) is out to kill and destroy all he can through our relationships, families and in the body of Christ.

Gossip brings death to all of these areas. Our words carry life or death as we speak them. We have a choice, to lift up or tear down, to encourage or defeat, to love or hate. Let us speak words of hope and life.

Have a great day

Blessings, Dee
